Named after the Greek word ammos (άμμος), meaning sand, this vase echoes the soft erosion and shifting contours shaped by coastal winds. Its form narrows toward the base and expands gently at the shoulders, creating the impression of something unearthed from the shoreline — sculpted first by nature, then refined by hand.
The central opening, laced with raw stoneware ties, recalls a fissure in a cliff face or the parting of sand after the tide recedes. It introduces a sense of tension and vulnerability, balancing the vessel’s organic curves with a distinctly modern edge.
Ammos stands as a solitary statement piece, textured, elemental, and evocative of the landscapes that define Thalassa.
